چکیده

We consider the continuous model of a two machines with finite intermediary buffer production line. The behavior of the machines is controlled by finite homogeneous Markov chains. We study a numerical algorithm for the integration of the system of partial differential equations describing the transient behavior. Stochastic fluid models are used for performance evaluation of high-speed computer networks and manufacturing systems. Solutions to the transient behavior of such systems were provided by previous works in terms of Laplace transform of the solution or by explicit formula in the case of an infinite buffer. Our numerical algorithm provides a fast solution with a good precision under weak assumptions on the initial conditions.

Fluid Models for Multiserver Queues with Abandonments

Deterministic fluid models are developed to provide simple first-order performance descriptions for multi-server queues with abandonment under heavy loads. Motivated by telephone call centers, the focus is on multi-server queues with a large number of servers and non-exponential service-time and time-to-abandon distributions. The first fluid model serves as an approximation for the G/GI/s + GI ...

On the solution of algebraic Riccati equations arising in fluid queues

New algorithms for solving algebraic Riccati equations (ARE) which arise in fluid queues models are introduced. They are based on reducing the ARE to a unilateral quadratic matrix equation of the kind AX2 + BX + C = 0 and on applying the Cayley transform in order to arrive at a suitable spectral splitting of the associated matrix polynomial. A shifting technique for removing unwanted eigenvalue...

Diffusion Approximation Models for Transient States and their Application to Priority Queues

The article presents a diffusion approximation model applied to investigate the behavior of priority queues. We discusses the use of the diffusion approximation in transient analysis of queueing models in the case of a single station and of a queueing network presenting the solutions. We emphasize the numerical aspect of the solution and analyze the errors. In classical queuing theory, the anal...

Approximate Transient Analysis of Queuing Networks by Decomposition based on Time-Inhomogeneous Markov Arrival Processes

We address the transient analysis of networks of queues with exponential service times. Such networks can easily have such a huge state space that their exact transient analysis is unfeasible. In this paper we propose an approximate transient analysis technique based on decomposing the queues of the network using a compact and approximate representation of the departure process of each queue. N...

Transient MHD Convective Flow of Fractional Nanofluid between Vertical Plates

Effects of the uniform transverse magnetic field on the transient free convective flows of a nanofluid with generalized thermal transport between two vertical parallel plates have been analyzed. The fluid temperature is described by a time-fractional differential equation with Caputo derivatives. Closed form of the temperature field is obtained by using the Laplace transform and fractional deri...
